The Fashion Trust - Made By Britain - Brighton, Hove, Sussex, UK

With the Olympics less than a year away, and the successful launch of the parliamentary search for the best of design and manufacturing across UK, 'Made By Britain' project, Fashion Sussex chosen as the Hove & Portslade entry by Mike Weatherley MP, have provided their dedicated Olympic 2012 inspired prints to be used in the promotional campaigns 'Made By Brighton & Hove' and 'Made By Sussex' at the forthcoming Autumn 2011, Brighton & Hove Business Show.

The print used in the promotional banners, featuring lifebouys designed by Julius Arthur Quinn Mdes, graduate of Brighton University, is just one from the 'Made By' range featured at http://madebybritain.blogspot.com showing that it's possible to design textile and clothing print design, and use successfully in other ways, in this instance, graphic design in a business use solution.

" We are showing here that successful fashion prints can be used in a number of business solutions and Julius' iconic lifebouy Olympic inspired design will be further produced, not only just in graphics, but a range of products to show business visitors at the forthcoming Sussex Business Show, how these skills can be adapted for a business environment" ... stated trustee Michaela Walker

Made by Britain Launch - Proud to use the new 'Made In Britain' logo

A standard marque for Made in Britain products has been launched with backing from UK manufacturers and MPs.

A panel of industry experts chose this new design after research commissioned by Stoves (the British Manufacturer of Aga) that many Brits were simply out of touch with what was British made and what wasn’t.

36% of people said they buy British whenever they can and more than a third of people said they would do so more often if it was easier to identify authentic, ‘Made in Britain’ products.*

More than 55% of people polled thought it was good to buy British made products because it supported UK manufacturing and jobs.*

The Fashion Trust – based in Sussex is pleased to be associated with this campaign and to be able to use this new logo on their fashion designed manufacturing.

“ I’m delighted that The Fashion Trust in Sussex, can support this campaign for promoting British fashion manufacturing, particularly with the Olympics less than a year away and so many global businesses and consumers  observing the UK”  … stated Mike Weatherley MP and Trustee.

Request your logo from Stoves today to use on your 100% British manufactured products at http://www.stoves.co.uk/Made-in-Britain/

Made By Britain Launch - About the prints designed

Julius used photography images by Simon Munn featuring previous regional Olympiads, such as Steve Ovett, digitally enhanced into an exciting print which is  suitable for use in large printing format especially for commercial occasions.

A second and very detailed image was produced featuring the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, clearly fantastic for regional tourism use, and his third print features lifebuoys, again very appropriate for being a seaside City resort, which features the colour palette of the Olympics and fantastic to print onto natural fabrics.

This third print has been chosen to be used for the ‘Made By Brighton & Hove’ and  ‘Made By Sussex’ manufacturing campaign  that is commencing alongside the ‘Made By Britain’ UK campaign to showcase  locally produced products in the South Coast region.

This project has shown Julius’s complete diversity and expertise as one of top regions young print designers.

Julius Stated …

“ I was delighted to be offered this project through The Fashion Trust and to be able to represent Sussex through print and design. Inspiration has been taken from local Olympic talent and represents the area as a forerunner in Olympic traditions”…

Working with traditional and digital print media, I have worked with photographic imagery to create print work for fashion and textiles across the board”…

Made By Britain Launch - About APMG

Made By Britain is a project of the All Party Manufacturing Group, APMG.
MPs have been asked to find a product that is manufactured in their constituency today, not just designed. The objective is to draw up a diverse and comprehensive picture of contemporary British industry, during 2012, Olympic year, interesting to young people making career choices and especially including digital. The Trust digitally produced prints, designed and manufactured fashion clothing under The Fashion Trust label for the parliamentary search.

Made By Britain Launch - About Paul Fletcher Photography

We were pleased to ask Paul to photograph this fashion shoot. Pauls portfolio is extensive, extending from business and corporate to weddings and events.

The photo shoot was taken outside Hove Town Hall, Hove, where the Olympic torch flame is expected to go past, next year, 16 July 2012, on its way to London 2012.

The Town hall is not the most glamorous location, but Paul managed to capture a great range of photography on the day of the MP, Mike Weatherley modelling ranges.

Made By Britain Launch

A Sussex Trust has joined a team invited by the Government to showcase Britain's design and manufacturing capabilities.

Mike Weatherley MP, representing Hove & Portslade chose The Fashion Trust,  currently one of only 40 businesses nationally asked to showcase at Made By Britain, which has just been launched by the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group in a Parliamentary search of the very best of British Design & Manufacturing.

The Fashion Trust has been formed to promote fashion design and manufacturing from the region and encourage exports, is being pitched against British icons such as Fish Fingers, Sheffield steel surgical blades and Rolls Royce engines.

Vince Cable, The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and President of the Board of Trade,  unveiled his ‘Made By Britain’ campaign, an initiative that he hopes to highlight not only design but manufacturing excellence in the UK.

Stated Cable…

"With the Olympics bringing so much attention to Britain, this is a fantastic opportunity to show the rest of the world that we make world-beating products."

“We are still the world's seventh biggest manufacturer. Some of the world's most skilled designers, engineers and fabricators hail from this fair isle.”
The manufacturing industry generates 12% of Britain's GDP and the timing couldn’t be better for this 'Made By Britain' initiative for the British economy. Cable believes that the manufacturing industry is still associated with derelict factories and poorly-paid jobs by the British public. He is keen to use 'Made By Britain' as a platform to publicise Britain's manufacturing prowess.
